The Supreme Court on Friday set aside NCLAT order of December 18, 2019 restoring Cyrus Mistry as executive chairman of Tata Group.
With the addition of these two directors, the total Board strength of the company increases to 14 which include seven independent directors, including O P Bhatt, Tata Consultancy Services said.
'The untimely demise of Shri Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India's economic prowess,' Prime Minister Modi said in a tweet.
Former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry was on Sunday killed in a road accident after his car hit a divider in Maharashtra's Palghar district neighbouring Mumbai, a police official said.
Tata Group expects to do some tightrope walking on legal issues in the days ahead.
The car was driven by Mumbai-based gynaecologist Anahita Pandole (55).
Mistry indeed followed standards of corporate governance so that it should not create any controversies at a later date
If Cyrus's protestations of having no knowledge of his imminent dismissal are to be taken at face value, he was extraordinarily naive and insulated from the ground reality. There were enough straws in the wind to suggest that his relations with Ratan were fast deteriorating to a point of no return.
Refusing to be drawn into a point by point clarification of Mistry's letter, the company said: "It will be beneath the dignity of Tata Sons to engage in a public spat with regard to the several unfounded allegations appearing in his leaked confidential statement."
'Cyrus was always very different. He would think before acting.'
With a net worth of $12.6 billion, Mistry is well known for constructing some of Mumbai's landmarks such as the Reserve Bank of India headquarters, The Taj Mahal Palace and Towers, and the Oberoi Hotels
